Job Description
PURPOSE:
This role offers an exciting opportunity for an outstanding candidate with a proven record in strategic business development, programme management, and senior-level stakeholder engagement. As a senior position within Visit Belfast’s Business Events team, the Ambassador Programme Manager will lead the development of a strategic research and engagement programme designed to inspire and mobilise Northern Ireland’s academic, business, and medical leaders. The goal is to highlight the region’s sector strengths and shape effective bid strategies that attract high-value business events to Belfast and Northern Ireland, showcasing the region as a premier place to meet, work, do business, study, and invest.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To strategically develop mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholder organisations including Invest NI, Universities, Health Trusts, Belfast City Council, Tourism Northern Ireland, Tourism Ireland, ICC Belfast ,professional bodies, business organisations, business networks and internationally active companies based in Belfast.
- To research and recruit new Northern Ireland Ambassadors who can assist Visit Belfast in bidding to bring business events and conferences to Belfast and Northern Ireland and deliver stretch economic impact targets. To generate and develop new, qualified business event sales leads to deliver annual targets and programme KPIs.
- Strategically develop and manage the Ambassador Circle's sector advisory panels as well as establishing and developing strong relationships across Visit Belfast’s Ambassador network.
- To develop and deliver annual marketing, event and engagement plans for the Northern Ireland Ambassador Circle in partnership with key stakeholders, within allocated budgets and to meet KPIs and business event targets
- To maintain and develop the Ambassador CRM database through strategic business event and targeted sector focused research.
- To research and monitor industry developments, news and investments in Northern Ireland’s key economic sectors and areas of research, clinical and academic excellence including Advanced manufacturing, life & health sciences, food & drink, financial, business & professional related services.
- To develop Northern Ireland Ambassador Circle marketing collateral, communications and digital content.
- To develop and deliver a targeted events and engagement programme to support Ambassador recruitment and relationship building.
- To deliver senior / board level presentations to stakeholders, current and potential Ambassadors.
- To develop, manage and monitor the Ambassador programme budget and service level agreements with funders and stakeholders.
- To provide regular reporting on Ambassador programme performance, developments and lead generation KPIs both internally and to Strategic and corporate partners.
- To convert leads into sales through assisting the business tourism department with business development activities including bid strategies and supporting site visits and client meetings and events.
- To contribute towards business planning, strategy development and delivery of operational plans and targets within the business development department.
- To undertake other duties as required by the head of business events Director of Business Development, Sustainability Transformation and the wider Visit Belfast senior management team.
