Job Description

PURPOSE:

As PR & Communications Manager, you will play a leading role in promoting Belfast as a world-class destination for leisure, business, and cruise tourism. Working as part of Visit Belfast’s multi award-winning Marketing & Communications team, you will develop and deliver impactful PR and communications strategies that enhance the city’s reputation and strengthen awareness across local, national, and international markets.

You will lead on media relations, campaign delivery, and brand storytelling, creating meaningful connections with audiences and partners while driving measurable outcomes that contribute to Visit Belfast’s strategic, marketing, and economic objectives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and deliver integrated PR and communications strategies that raise awareness of Belfast as a leading destination for leisure, business and cruise tourism.
  2. Support delivery of Visit Belfast’s Marketing & Communications Plan, ensuring activity aligns with strategic priorities and brand values.
  3. Plan, implement and evaluate PR campaigns across paid, owned and earned channels, producing postcampaign reports and performance insights.
  4. Manage proactive and reactive media engagement across local, national and international outlets.
  5. Build strong relationships with journalists, influencers and media partners to secure high-quality coverage.
  6. Coordinate press releases, media briefings, interviews and press visits that amplify key campaigns and initiatives.
  7. Lead the organisation’s response to media enquiries and crisis communications, ensuring 24/7 readiness.
  8. Collaborate with the Marketing, Digital, Business Tourism and Visitor Servicing teams to deliver integrated storytelling.
  9. Work closely with partners including Belfast City Council, Tourism NI, Tourism Ireland and Regional Tourism Partners to align messaging and leverage joint opportunities.
  10. Manage relationships with external PR agencies, ensuring delivery against agreed briefs, budgets and KPIs.
  11. Ensure all communications reflect the Belfast brand essence, tone of voice and visual identity.
  12. Produce content for corporate materials, presentations and speechwriting, and develop creative promotional opportunities with partners.
  13. Oversee PR budgets, reporting and evaluation frameworks to demonstrate effectiveness and value for money.
  14. Recruit, manage and develop team members, supporting professional growth and contributing to the Marketing & Communications management team.
  15. Represent Visit Belfast at media events, stakeholder meetings and industry forums, maintaining strong visibility for the organisation. Available to work outside normal hours as required.
  16. Uphold Visit Belfast’s equality and diversity policies, with flexibility to work outside normal hours and travel as required.
