Job Description
PURPOSE:
The Head of Partnership and Commercial will lead the development and delivery of Visit Belfast’s ambitious commercial sales and growth strategy and manage the organisation’s strong industry partnerships. This role will support Visit Belfast’s goal of increasing visitor numbers and spend in the city and wider region and maximise opportunities and value for its industry partners.
The postholder will be responsible for the management and development of Visit Belfast’s strategic and corporate partners, regional tourism partners and 500 tourism and hospitality business across the city and region.
The role will lead, manage and develop the partnership and commercial team to deliver sales KPIs and oversee the effective delivery of annual operational plans to support the Visit Belfast’s strategy and business plan objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategy: Support the development and delivery of a robust partnership and commercial strategy to achieve Visit Belfast’s ambitious income targets and partnership objectives, maximising the organisation’s destination marketing and management impact across the Belfast city region.
- Sales management: Develop annual sales plans and activities to deliver partnership and commercial KPIs.
- Account management: Develop and implement a robust account management approach within the partnership team, encompassing strategic sponsors, corporate partners, and a tiered engagement model aligned with associated benefits and investment levels.
- Partner retention and engagement: Oversee the team in adopting a proactive approach to retention through partnership engagement plans, monitoring satisfaction levels amongst the partnership base and putting in place interventions and improvement where required.
- Partner recruitment: Implement a targeted partnership recruitment plan, focussed on tourism and hospitality businesses that will benefit from Visit Belfast activities, that enhance the range and appeal of the destination offer and support business plan priority areas.
- Relationship management: Develop strong working relationships with industry partners and stakeholders, acting as an ambassador for Visit Belfast and the destination. Work collaboratively across Visit Belfast departments to identify opportunities, overcome challenges and build effective working relationships across all teams.
- Commercial platforms: Collaborate with Visit Belfast departments to maximise income by developing nexisting platforms and identifying new commercial opportunities that enable partners to both benefit from and support Visit Belfast’s destination marketing and management activity.
- Key account management: Provide key account management for Visit Belfast’s strategic and corporate sponsors and regional tourism partners, supporting the senior management team and coordinating delivery across the organisation to ensure strong, mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Management information and reporting: Implement robust partnership and commercial reporting to monitor and manage partnership and commercial performance. Develop the partnership CRM system and provide regular updates on performance.
- People management: Lead, manage and develop the partnership and commercial team to deliver individual and team KPIs, support staff development and undertake all line management responsibilities in line with Visit Belfast’s policies and procedures.
- Budget management: Monitor and oversee the management of commercial and partnership income and expenditure budget, ensuring all financial procedures and controls are adhered to across the team.
- Partnership marketing and communications: Development of partnership and commercial marketing collateral and presentations. Support the development of content for Visit Belfast’s corporate and industry website and work with the department and marketing and communications team on industry communications.
- Partnership events: Manage an agreed and budgeted programme of Visit Belfast industry partnership events and activities to strengthen relationships and engagement with partners and industry stakeholders.
- Operations: Oversee the effective management and delivery of partner commercial platforms, agreements, evaluations and activation of partner benefits across the organisation working closely with the relevant marketing, business development and visitor servicing teams.
- Complaints handling: Oversee and manage industry and partner queries and complaints efficiently and effectively, recommending solutions and changes to enhance the partnership service across the organisation. Monitor adherence to partnership terms and conditions, identifying potential issues and recommending solutions.
- Stakeholder engagement and representation: Represent Visit Belfast by attending and, as required, presenting at partner and industry events including Tourism NI, Tourism Ireland, Belfast City Council, RTP and partner conferences, events, forums and workshops.
- Governance: Ensure all partnership and commercial activities operate within Visit Belfast’s governance framework and in line with policies and procedures. Establish and monitor processes and controls to manage risk, ensure compliance and identify areas of improvement.
- Undertake any other duties as required by the Director of Business Development, Sustainability and Transformation and the Visit Belfast senior management team.
- This role will require out of hours working, engaging effectively with the tourism, retail and hospitality sectors, as well as occasionally representing Visit Belfast at evening events and occasional weekend events.

- Clean driving licence and access to a car for work purposes is desirable.
