With less than three weeks to go until the introduction of the new Glider service, Visit Belfast staff get a sneak preview on board one of its new hybrid vehicles.

Front-of-house and marketing and sales staff of the city tourism marketing agency were met by representatives from the Department of Infrastructure and Translink who explained how the Glider service would provide the city with a modern, high-capacity, high-frequency service that will run from the east to the west of the city as well as linking into the Titanic Quarter.

Looking forward to seeing the new Glider Services come into service on the 3 September 2018, Visit Belfast Chief Executive, Gerry Lennon, said:

“Investing in efficient public transport makes cities more attractive to visit, live, invest and study in.

“Moving people effectively around Belfast not only reduces congestions but it enables Visit Belfast to encourage visitors to explore more and experience more of the city which in turn will help support local communities and economies.”

Translink will operate the Glider Service on behalf of the Department of Infrastructure as part of their plans to address current and future transport needs.

Phase One of the project, known as Belfast Rapid Transit (BRT), will provide a high quality passenger experience and faster, reliable services connecting East Belfast, West Belfast and Titanic Quarter via Belfast city centre.  The service starts on Monday 3rd of September, 2018.
