With the arrival of Spring, so comes the annual Spring Fair at Malone House and Barnett Demesne on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April (1.30pm-5.30pm) – set in the Land of Oz this year.
Organised by Belfast City Council and one of the highlights of the seasonal calendar in the city, this year’s theme is the Wizard of Oz with a ‘Scarecrow Field’ and lots of themed free family activities from straw crafts and willow-making workshops, live music and fairground rides, to children’s entertainment including a petting farm and magical storytelling. Prizes will be up for grabs also in our children’s competitions.
Come along and take in the Spring flowers with hundreds of daffodils on display including the Royal Horticultural Society’s Late Daffodil Show as well as tulips, bonsai and pot plant exhibits.
Parks Events Officer, Brian McKinley, said: “Our Spring Fair is always a great family event with thousands of people of all ages coming through the gates. I hope everyone will take advantage of what’s on offer this year at our Wizard of Oz themed event and enjoy what we have planned over the two days – and the best thing is, admission is free!”
With no car parking on site at Barnett Demesne, free shuttle buses will operate to and from Spring Fair from nearby Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park. Shuttle buses start at 1pm with the last bus leaving Barnett Demesne at 5.45pm on both days. A bus service will operate from Donegall Square East in the city centre over the weekend (Metro 8A or 8B) and on Sunday (Metro 8A).
