At McKinney Competitions, we’re proud to be a founding signatory of the new Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators  a government-backed initiative we helped develop alongside DCMS and other leading industry operators.

This new Code sets out clear, elevated standards for honesty, transparency, and player protection, ensuring customers can trust that competitions across the industry are run fairly, ethically, and responsibly.

These principles reflect what McKinney Competitions has stood for from day one. We were ahead of the game with our recent “Know Your Limits” campaign with Logie, which reinforces our commitment to helping players make informed decisions, stay in control, and enjoy competitions safely.

By actively shaping this Code and fully committing to its implementation, McKinney Competitions is proud to lead the industry in integrity, responsibility, and safeguarding, setting a benchmark that not all businesses will meet. Operators who decline to follow the Code are not held to the same level of accountability, oversight, or consumer-protection obligations. While participation in the Code is voluntary, it represents the Government’s recommended benchmark for lawful, responsible operation within this sector.

From a legal and consumer-protection standpoint, it is not advisable for players to engage with competition sites that do not adhere to the Code, as these operators may not implement the safeguards, transparency requirements, or fairness standards designed to protect participants.

Furthermore, the introduction of this Code helps establish a clear foundation for regulatory scrutiny. It provides a defined framework against which non-compliant operators can be assessed, making it easier for enforcement bodies and the legal system to identify, investigate, and address practices that may breach consumer law or fall below expected standards.

By committing fully to the Code, McKinney Competitions sets a benchmark for integrity and accountability  one that not all businesses will meet and reinforces our long-standing commitment to safeguarding players and maintaining industry trust.
