This year’s Belfast Christmas Market will feature 15 new chalets which will be exclusively available to local food and craft traders. These hand-crafted wooden chalets will be positioned outside the City Hall gates, in a prime location on Donegall Square North.
According to organisers Market Place Europe, 35 percent of traders at the five week market are local, and the visiting market traders purchase a high percentage of their goods from local producers and suppliers. The gross economic impact for the City of Belfast from the Christmas Market measured £56m in 2014, with 1.3 million visitors to the event.
Market Place Europe is now inviting proposals from local food and craft producers who may be interested in either managing a number of new chalets, or trading from a single chalet.
The deadline for submission of proposals is 22 August 2016, and more information (including restrictions, terms and conditions) can be viewed here.
Market Place Europe is also offering the chance for a young business (in operation more than six months, but less than 18), to win a free space at this year’s market through their “Pitch Perfect” competition. More details can be viewed here.
