Kicking off the festivities Friday will host an array of international and local talent for the first half of the electronic music marathon. World-class production duo and long-term AVA affiliates BICEP will deliver their rave-focussed CHROMA A/V set, a hybrid live show, accompanied by lights and visuals designed by David Rudnick which will stun the crowd. Key players in AVA’s story from the beginning, it was only right to invite them both back for the 10-year celebration. Also on board is meteoric producer & vocalist Nia Archives, who has been a luminary in the jungle revival of recent years with her stellar productions and live performances.
Making their debut versus session Bogota’s Bitter Babe and London-based Melbournite Surusinghe will be heating things in a special back-to-back set. These two powerhouses are among the biggest breakthrough artists of 2023 making them a perfect fit to showcase their sonics for this year’s celebrations.
Following on from what has been an explosive year and debut Boiler Room for him last year Shampain will also be featuring on Friday with his high-energy techno and breaks. Critically acclaimed for her cutting-edge works in production genre fluid DJ Gigola will also be turning the dockside with an eclectic blend of high-energy dance music. French DJ, producer and label owner LB AKA LABAT will also be joining the brigade of talent with an extravagant set, undefined by genre. ‘Mango Bay’ Mastermind X-Coast plays with nostalgic 90’s rave sounds whilst effortlessly gliding between house, techno and DnB, another weighty addition to the 10th birthday line-up.
Keeping the momentum rolling, Saturday will offer some of the highest-in-demand artists from the electronic world to close off the big birthday. House king, techno pioneer and all-around innovator Kerri Chandler is set to touch down, bringing a blend of classic grooves and bangers to alight the spirits of the AVA crowd. Barry Can’t Swim makes his AVA debut, bringing warm, uplifting and bold house sounds to beautiful Belfast on the back of his mercurial trajectory and sold-out tour.
Packing in harder sonics, Helena Hauff will return to AVA for the third time with industrial techno that sits perfectly in the shipyard setting. Making their AVA debut, masked artist and viral sensation HORSEGIIRL will deliver a set flying from hard dance, donk and heavy techno, whilst UKG, bassline and grime fans can look forward to highly anticipated debuts from Grammy award winner and grime/mc pioneer Flowdan alongside technical 6-deck wizard Neffa-T.
For fans of faster sounds, MCR-T will bring a multidimensional set led by trap and ghetto house to Belfast. Belfast born but Amsterdam breaks master Kessler makes his return to the slipways. Also appearing on the lineup with heavy hard-hitting metallic sounds, global DJ Ema comes back home to Ireland for a masterclass of breaks, techno and dubstep. Renowned in the queer world and afar for their versatile DJ sets across the globe, Confidence Man, the Australian indie electro-pop band plays a mixture of house and euphoric electronica, bringing their unique sounds to Northern Ireland.
Since the beginning, the team has prided itself on fostering local talent and showcasing exactly some of the hottest selectors and producers Belfast has to offer. Day one highlights include Timmy Stewart who has been an integral part of Belfast’s electronic music scene since its inception. Belfast-gone international Jordan Nocturne will also be joining the locals fresh from his Panorama Bar debut. A trailblazer in his own right, with a quickly growing following, DJ and producer Reger is back for round two following his AVA x Boiler Room debut last year.
