Translink and Visit Belfast have announced a strategic partnership, in a significant move that will provide thousands of locals and visitors access to a wide range of travel options and services from an exciting and convenient city centre location.

Part of the agreement includes a dedicated Translink information desk within Visit Belfast’s innovative new Welcome Centre on Donegall Square North. The service is already proving popular to new and existing users, with a full range of Translink tickets on offer, as well as all the latest information on fares, timetables and services.

Gerry Lennon, Chief Executive of Visit Belfast welcomed the new partnership:

“It’s really important for us that every visitor to Belfast and Northern Ireland has all the information, support and assistance they need to enjoy their visit here – whether that’s for one day, one week or even longer. Working with Translink enables us to provide vital public transport information and means that we can encourage visitors to see more of Belfast and more of Northern Ireland.

“This is common sense arrangement which works well for visitors and residents alike and we look forward to building on the popularity which the new service has already achieved.”

Norman Maynes, Head of Business Development at Translink said:

“This is a strategic move which makes sense for Translink. We’re delighted to be working with Visit Belfast in what is an outstanding, eye-catching building few people will miss.

“The agreement will make it easier than ever for both local people and visitors to buy tickets, and find out more about our range of best value bus, coach and train tickets and services.

“Customers can top up a variety of smartcards such as Smartlink and Daylink, whilst getting information on accommodation, visitor attractions, tours, events and transport within Belfast and Northern Ireland.

Welcoming the agreement, Belfast Lord Mayor, Councillor Máirtín Ó Muilleoir, said:

“The partnership between Visit Belfast and Translink is a real sign of confidence in the growing visitor market. With Translink staff working alongside the visitor information advisors, the services offered will be more seamless than ever, offering information and ideas for great days out and trips using bus and train services.

“With around 320,000 people expected to visit the new centre this year, this ‘one-stop shop’ approach for transport and tourist information will help both Visit Belfast and Translink to further drive the region’s tourist industry.”
