Visit Belfast, the city’s destination marketing and management organisation has appointed Rachael McGuickin as Director of Business Development.
This appointment will see Rachael play an integral role in the delivery of Visit Belfast’s ambitious plans to generate £130m to the local economy through increased visitor growth and spend in 2018/19.
Visit Belfast’s Chief Executive, Gerry Lennon commented “Visit Belfast has ambitious plans with increased opportunities as tourism steps up a gear in Belfast in the next 24 months, I am delighted to welcome Rachael as Director of Business Development at an important time for Visit Belfast. She has a strong track record of delivering transformational business performance and will provide sales leadership as Belfast continues to compete successfully at the highest international level.
Rachael brings international business experience to Visit Belfast and is a welcome addition to our senior team, as well as an asset to the wider tourism sector in Belfast and the city region.”
Rachael in her new role as Director of Business Development will now be responsible for key strategies across international conferences, cruise and travel trade sales.
She joins Visit Belfast from Queen’s University Belfast where she was Head of International Office for nearly three years. Rachael propelled an ambitious international recruitment and business development strategy during her time at Queen’s developing its presence in China, South-East Asia, Middle East and Africa, the Americas and India.
Rachael has 12 years’ experience in international business development and marketing in Tourism, Education and Economic Development which will aptly equip her to promote and sell the city internationally to contribute to the growth of business tourism and its significant role to the local tourism economy.
