Visit Belfast welcomes Northern Ireland Statistics and
Research Agency’s (NISRA) local government tourism statistics announced today which
once again positions Belfast as the economic engine room for tourism across the
region. Latest figures confirm the city
generated the largest market share of NI tourism spend and NI visitor trips in
2017.
A record five million bed nights in 2017 has shown double
digit growth from visitors choosing to stay in the city. Two thirds of visitors to Belfast came from
GB, ROI, mainland Europe and Rest of World, representing a ten percent growth
on the previous year, confirming the city’s position as a rising star in city
tourism. The significant investment in Belfast
hotels and with many recent travel accolades, Visit Belfast is confident that city
tourism will build on this success in 2018.
