Belfast has been named as one of the UK’s Top 10 best destinations among
travellers from around the world for a fourth consecutive year, it was
announced on Tuesday 24th March 2015.

Compiled by the world’s
largest online travel forum, TripAdvisor, its annual Travellers’ Choice
awards for Destinations 2015 has yet again ranked Belfast in its
prestigious and influential Top 10 ‘best-rated UK destinations’ list,
which is compiled based on millions of reviews and opinions from global
travellers.

Belfast first appeared on the influential
TripAdvisor list in 2012, and, unlike many UK cities which have appeared
since then, has continued to maintain a solid Top 10 ranking.

Belfast is this year placed 7th in this list ahead of York, Keswick and Glasgow.

Gerry Lennon, Chief Executive of Visit Belfast said:

“Belfast’s
ability to attract positive reviews and feedback from the thousands of
tourists that have visited the city is testament to the city’s world
class hotels, attractions, tours, events, and award-winning hospitality.

“Our
tourism industry has invested millions of pounds to create a unique
visitor experience and, combined with the passion and warmth of the
people who welcome these visitors, I’m delighted that Belfast has
continued to keep its status as a Top 10 UK city-break destination.

“We
recognise how important it is for all our visitors to enjoy their time
in Belfast and we are proud that so many travellers have endorsed our
achievements through Tripadvisor.”

The Travellers’ Choice awards
for Destinations honour top travel spots worldwide, with the selection
determined using a formula which takes into account the quantity and
quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, attractions and restaurants
over a 12-month period.

London and Edinburgh were awarded first and
second place again this year, followed by Llandudno, Torquay, Liverpool
and Blackpool. This year, Bristol, Leeds and Birmingham – all winning destinations in 2014 – are absent.

TripAdvisor said: “With
a population of almost 300,000 in the city proper, Belfast has grown
into a cosmopolitan destination and become a popular weekend break spot.
With feelings of optimism and life pulsing through the city, Belfast
makes for an energising getaway.”
