A new marketing campaign promoting Belfast this Christmas is underway. Drawing support for several public and private sector partners, Visit Belfast is delivering the ‘Belfast Alive with Christmas’ campaign on behalf of the city.

The campaign, which launched on 12 November across multiple marketing channels, will bring footfall and spend to the city at one of the most crucial times of the year, and is the biggest Christmas campaign Visit Belfast has ever delivered.

Targeting both day and overnight visitors from across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, the campaign incorporates a comprehensive range of local and national online, broadcast and outdoor advertising  elements.

Belfast Lord Mayor Deirdre Hargey said, “Against the backdrop of a challenging time for the city centre, ‘Belfast Alive with Christmas’ is a campaign which showcases the very best of Belfast at Christmas, from shopping to nights out, family fun to short breaks. I am really pleased that the city has come together to work with us and support Visit Belfast in delivering this campaign.”

Gerry Lennon, Chief Executive of Visit Belfast, added, “With the support of Belfast City Council, the Department for Communities and our private sector partners Belfast One, Translink, CastleCourt and Victoria Square, we have created a campaign which captures all that’s on offer around Belfast, and we are looking forward to providing a welcome boost to our city economy this Christmas.”

As well as supporting this campaign, Belfast City Council has invested in entertainment around the city centre to give people even more reasons to come in and enjoy Belfast. This includes a snow slide on Donegall Place, a ferris wheel in Cathedral Gardens (previously Buoy Park) and live entertainment on Royal Avenue each weekend before Christmas. A new app also encourages shoppers into areas of the city affected by the safety cordon, with a chance to win prizes.
